Why should people want to work for RSC?

Bob: If you were to introduce the company to someone who was looking to work for us, what would you say to them to entice them and on what would you caution them to make sure they fit at RSC?

Carly: There is so much I can say about this! First of all, what we’re looking for are self motivated people. We want people that can come into a job, not know a lot about it, and learn and dig in. We don’t want people that don’t want to be here. You have to really want to be here and you have to appreciate what we do. We are all very passionate about our jobs. Every one of us really believe in what we do and we believe in the company, so we only want people that have that, too. You have to be passionate about real estate, or facilities, or some line of work. This is a job that if you want to be the CEO, you can be the CEO, if you work for it. That’s a positive. I don’t think there are a lot of jobs where, if you work hard, you can be whatever you want. I think what’s hard about working at RSC is you do have the ability to be whatever you want so when you come in, we say, “What do you want to do?” Most people don’t know. They say, “Well, I want to be a programmer.” So they’re a programmer. Then they go, “Well, I miss clients.” It’s hard to pick, but that’s a huge benefit.
We work from home, so you have a little bit of flexibility in your schedule, which I think is really nice for a lot of people. There’s also a caution with that. If you are working from home you really have to be disciplined. You have to make sure that you’re not at home just grocery shopping and doing laundry all day. You have to make sure that you can buckle in and work. That’s easier said than done.

The main thing for me is passion. We want people that care, want to do this, love it, and really think that ARCHIBUS can make a difference in people’s jobs and lives. I know it’s not changing the world, but it changes the facilities world. Facilities is a department that is not appreciated by most companies. It’s at the bottom of the totem pole. It shouldn’t be because it sustains the building and it keeps the lights on and you work there because of the people that work in facilities. ARCHIBUS really shows what people do. It gives people insight to how hard facilities and real estate work for you. It’s important and it changes lives. We want people that believe in that.
